In 2021, PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih and the State University of Economics and Technology launched a unique educational project called New Factory.The aim of the project was to train young qualified specialists who would bring a new production culture to the enterprise.
Students studied under a separate educational program, had access to a large number of production excursions, studied foreign languages in depth, and had the opportunity to further develop soft skills through a rich extracurricular program.
In 2023, after the first generation of the New Factory graduated, the project was restarted with a new approach - directly with current students of the University and vocational education institutions, as a dual education program.
"Structures and equipment in the mining and metallurgical complex" and "Computer-aided design system."
During the classes, which were held at the Institute of Technology, by associate professors of the Department of Engineering for Industrial Engineering Serhiy Shved and Igor Zaselsky, the students got acquainted with the current trends in the development of the mining and metallurgical industry at the enterprise, the use of the latest technologies and equipment, gained the necessary design knowledge and skills in 3D design of parts, creation of design documentation, and as well as engineering analysis using SolidWorks engineering software.
On the basis of PJSC Arcelor Mittal Kryvyi Rih, thematic excursions to the enterprise were held to practically consolidate the knowledge gained in the classroom. During the excursions, students had the opportunity to communicate with leading specialists from various departments of the enterprise.
In addition to classes and excursions, students regularly receive training to develop soft skills, such as teamwork and interaction with students from other educational institutions.
An important part of the project was the participation of vocational technical education institutions, to which Yevhen Chuprynov, a lecturer at our university, associate professor of the Department of Metallurgical Technologies, was invited as a lecturer. A 1.5-year educational program has been developed for students, which consists not only of lecture material but also of a large number of practical works that are carried out on the basis of the Educational and Research Institute of Technology of the SUET. Thanks to this, students acquire the necessary universal skills to work with mechanical and electrical equipment, technologies in metallurgy and coke production.
After the end of the academic semester, in the summer, students will have a long and interesting practice in the workshops of the enterprise, where they will be able to gain even more important practical knowledge and skills that will help them take their rightful place in the family of professional employees of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih https://ukraine.arcelormittal.com/people-and-careers/internship
